Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Centric ("the Service") at centric.social or our mobile applications, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a binding legal agreement between you and Centric ("we," "us," or "our"), a company based in Virginia, USA.

2. Description of Service

Centric is a group meetup app that helps two or more people find an equidistant meeting spot based on their starting locations, preferred travel modes, and maximum travel times. The Service calculates suggested meeting areas and surfaces nearby venues.

We provide the Service "as is" for personal, non-commercial use unless you have a commercial license from us.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using Centric, you represent that you meet this requirement.

If you are between 13 and 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have done so, we will delete that information promptly.

4. Account Registration

To access certain features you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information
  • Keep your account credentials confidential
  • Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access to your account
  • Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Acceptable Use

You may not use the Service to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation
  • Enter addresses or location data you do not have authorization to use
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or extract data from the Service
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
  • Impersonate any person or entity
  • Upload or transmit malicious code
  • Use the Service for any commercial purpose without our written consent

6. Location Data

When you use Centric, you enter addresses on behalf of yourself and, potentially, others in your group. You represent that:

  • You have the right to enter any address you submit
  • You will not enter the address of a person without their knowledge and consent

We geocode addresses to calculate meeting spots. See our Privacy Policy for how location data is handled.

7. Subscriptions and Payments

Free tier

The free tier allows meetup calculations for up to 5 participants.

Paid plans

Paid plans unlock additional participants and features. Subscription terms:

  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel
  • Prices are displayed at checkout and may change with notice
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you retain access until then
  • We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods except where required by law

Mobile in-app purchases

Subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play are subject to those platforms' billing and refund policies in addition to ours.

Payment processing

Payments are processed by Stripe (web) or via Apple/Google (mobile). We do not store your full payment card details.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Centric and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service without our express written permission.

You retain ownership of any content you submit (such as addresses or session names), but you grant us a limited license to process that content to provide the Service.

9. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party services including mapping APIs and authentication providers. Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms. We are not responsible for third-party services or their availability.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

We do not warrant that:

  • Travel time estimates are accurate or that suggested meeting spots are optimal for your specific situation
  • Venues surfaced by the Service are open, available, or suitable for your needs
  • The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components

Centric is a planning tool. Always verify venue availability and travel conditions independently.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CENTRIC AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS OR DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (B) $100 USD.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain liability exclusions, so the above may not fully apply to you.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Centric from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your use of the Service.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. You may delete your account at any time through account settings or by submitting a request at centric.social/datarequest.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive (including Sections 10–12 and 14).

14. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.

Informal resolution first. Before filing any legal claim, you agree to contact us and give us 30 days to resolve the dispute informally.

Governing courts. If informal resolution fails, disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Virginia, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance.
